Reasons my Toddler Has Hated Me This Week

We are only a week into the “Treacherous Threes,” as my 10 year old step-daughter calls it, but I am already feeling the shift from what I thought was the “Worst it can get 2’s” to “It will get worse 3’s.” Talk about walking on eggshells, I can’t do anything without totally ticking Arabella off lately. I’ve been keeping track of all of the evil things I’ve done to her over this past week and I would like to take this time to share those with you. Buckle in, kids, I’ve been a terrible mommy.

  • I tried to join in on her solo performance of “ABC’s”
  • I cleaned up from her birthday party
  • I told her she can’t have another birthday party until next year
  • I wouldn’t let her wear her sandals from last summer (that are 3 sizes too small)
  • I put her hair in two buns, as requested, but she wanted a ‘pony’ instead
  • I literally didn’t have any more hands to carry her baby doll up the stairs
  • I wouldn’t let her eat gummies for breakfast
  • Her feet got wet
  • Her hands got wet
  • I made her wear clothes to school
  • I told her she had to sleep in her bed, and not on the floor
  • Our robot vacuum almost “ate” her
  • I wouldn’t let her sit inside the dishwasher
  • Wrong cup…everytime
  • We were going swimming AFTER school…not before
  • I had to go pee
  • I couldn’t find the moon
  • I asked her to try on a pair of shoes
  • Her band-aid didn’t stick after she took it off 10+ times
  • After she kissed my cheek, I kissed her back
  • Every night I “make” her go to bed

Guys. Please tell me that I am not going to have an entire year of this. I have a feeling this is only the beginning. So on that note, I’m going lock myself in the bathroom while I eat her last pack of gummies. Here’s to the “Treacherous Threes” and ticking off our toddlers.

xo, Jess
