I haven’t written a blog post in nearly 5 months.
FIVE.FLIPPING.MONTHS. That’s nearly half my daughters life.
Being a mom/dad/parent is tough work. I am completely maxed out right now. Between working outside the home, cooking, cleaning, making sure I spend enough QUALITY time with my family, and trying to hold onto my last bit of sanity, I’ve reached my limit. I’ve been working on this very blog post for over 2 months now (I’ve only had to change the intro a couple times to reflect how long it’s been, ha!)
I feel like there are super moms out there who can do everything and still manage to get a little “mom time” at the end of the day. I certainly haven’t been able to accomplish this. From the time I get my butt out of bed in the morning to the time I collapse at night I am on the go. And I still feel like I don’t accomplish everything that needs to be done. Each day is a whirlwind of QUICKLY getting myself ready; washing my hair has become a luxury, getting the babes out of the house and to the daycare, going to work, picking my tiny loves up after work, going home and making dinner while juggling Arabella, picking/tidying up, baths, preparing everything she will need the next day at daycare, and putting her to sleep. By the time this is all said and done, it’s way past my preferred bedtime and I have all I can do to drag myself to bed. And where in the hell, in this chaotic life, am I supposed to scrub the floors, write a blog post, plan birthday parties, shop for summer clothes for the girls, get my haircut (or shampooed, for petes sake), clean the bathrooms, go to Natalie’s gymnastic shows, and do the 100686 loads of laundry… let alone find time for myself?! Someone please tell me where this all fits in.
I get the sense that I am running in circles, I just can’t ever catch up. I swear I am a spitting image of the Walking Dead cast as I chug on my 3rd caffeinated drink of the day, when it’s not even noon yet. I have officially become a “mombie.” Now that Arabella is quite mobile, I have a feeling that this state of mind is only going to multiply. Maybe one day I will learn how to cook and teach my children sign language at the same time, recreate a craft that I pinned 9 months ago, or write a blog post while scrubbing the floors. But until then, I will continue drinking 5 coffees a day, and doing the best I can. I’m afraid mombie status is here to stay for awhile.
xo, Jess
